Jeff McDaniel focuses on intellectual property litigation and counseling, particularly in copyright and trademark law and the litigation of copyright infringement actions. A substantial portion of Mr. McDaniel's practice is devoted to the protection, enforcement and licensing of copyrighted works. He has particular expertise in the design and execution of copyright enforcement programs for copyright owners plagued with pervasive piracy problems. As a consequence, he has litigated hundreds of copyright infringement actions throughout the United States involving a very diverse collection of subject matters, including computer software, data compilations, musical compositions, literary works (including books, magazines and newspapers), works of fine art (including paintings, sculptures and photographs), works of applied art (including textile designs, clothing designs, jewelry designs, architectural plans and decorative flag and windsock designs), cartoon characters, print and broadcast advertising, and training and seminar materials. Mr. McDaniel places particular emphasis in obtaining, where possible, comprehensive relief for aggrieved copyright owners, including the seizure, impoundment and destruction of infringing articles, broad injunctive relief with post-suit monitoring to permanently end further infringing activity, the parallel criminal prosecution of infringers where warranted, the recovery of significant monetary damages, and the recovery of all fees and costs incurred in the enforcement action. Mr. McDaniel’s primary practice areas at the firm are:
